WEDDERLIE FARM
The farms of Wedderlie and Evelaw are made up of 1061ha in the Lammermuir Hills of the Scottish Borders.
Lying at 650 to 1250ft, it comprises 356ha heather hill, 185ha rough grazing, 347ha permanent grass, 121 ha temporary grass or kale ground, and 52ha woods/roads.
Aberdeen Angus cattle have been bred continuously on Wedderlie since the first purchase of twin heifers in 1913 and having survived many changes over the years, the 200 cow herd is well placed to capitalise on the expanding market for quality beef and the resulting increase in demand for proven breeding stock.

Latest News. The remainder are sold as yearling steers at St. Boswells Autumn sale or finished off grass at 16 – 18 months.
Females are sold privately or as a draft consignment at Perth in February.
A balance of maternal and growth traits is important and good temperaments are a recognised herd trait!
Wedderlie also runs 1600 Scottish Blackface and Texel cross ewes plus replacements. A pedigree Texel flock was introduced in 1999 with purchases from the dispersal of the Whitemire flock. Shearling rams are sold at Kelso Ram Sale in September.
Welsh Section B ponies under the Wedderlie prefix are all descended from a Foundation Stock mare, Megan, bought in 1943.
